4 Surprising Ways AI Accelerates Competitive Intelligence

One of my favorite quotes from the early, panic-stricken days of ChatGPT is this:

"AI won't take your job. It's somebody using AI that will take your job."

With that, Richard Baldwin, economist and professor at the Geneva Graduate Institute in Switzerland, gave us a little reassurance and a lot of motivation to embrace AI to become more effective and efficient in our work.

Those of us concerned with competitive intelligence and sales enablement often wear many hats and own many initiatives. So, anything that can reduce manual work and free up time for more thinking and strategy is worth a look.

Sure, we’re obviously big fans of competitive intelligence automation in general. Nobody has time to manually track their competitors’ moves online, curate the findings, distribute to assets like Battlecards and reports, and make them all available in the platforms your team uses.

But that’s not what we’re talking about today. We have four unexpected ways you can use AI to accelerate your competitive intelligence tasks even more, starting today.

Oh, and number four? That’s brand new as of today, so feel free to skip to the end if you want. No judgment. ;)

#1 Use AI to Speed Sales Call Prep

Ideally, you create and update sales Battlecards with all the messaging and objection-handling your team needs to be call-ready in minutes. We’ll get to a time-saving AI method for that in a minute.

But, your sales team never wants to have even an initial demo call without as much information as possible about the prospect and their company.

Having key information such as industry overview, company size, products and services offered, key decision makers, etc. can make the difference between delivering a lackluster demo and creating a connection that leads to a sale.

🤖 Try this prompt: Provide me with information about <prospect brand>, including their industry, company size, key decision-makers, and any recent news or developments.

You’ll also want to find out what specific pain points they might be looking to accomplish with the help of your product.

🤖 Try this prompt: Considering the <prospect industry> industry and the information about <prospect brand>, what are some potential pain points and challenges they might be facing?

You get the idea! Share these with your teams and help them speed up their call process. I dug deep into this topic, providing lots more prompts you’re free to use, here.

#2 Create Your Battlecards with ChatGPT

Battlecards are better when they include insights gained from years of experience and first-hand encounters with your competitors and buyers. BUT, ChatGPT does a pretty decent job of getting you to version one of an effective Battlecard.

Pro tip: Spring for ChatGPT Plus ($20/month) so it can access the internet, providing up-to-date-information and references you can double check (which is always important when working with large language models like ChatGPT).

Here are just a few of the sections of your Battlecard that AI can help you with.

Positioning

🤖 Try this prompt: Can you tell me briefly how <competitor> positions itself in the market?

Weaknesses / Why We Win

🤖 Try this prompt: As part of a sales Battlecard, what are the 5 main weaknesses that <competitor> has vs <my product>?

Strengths / Why We Lose

🤖 Try this prompt: As part of a sales Battlecard, what are the 5 main strengths that <competitor> has vs <my product>?

Objections

🤖 Try this prompt: Write the 6 main objections a sales rep working at <my product> will have to face when discussing with potential customers who are considering <competitor>, also write the responses and make sure they are short, concise, and sound natural.

See how fast that can be with a little AI intervention? Get our full guide with Battlecard template and all the prompts you need here.

#3 Analyze Your Competitors’ Reviews with ChatGPT

You may have created a pdf of all your reviews and used a tool like ChatPDF to find themes and takeaways for your reviews (if you haven’t, I highly recommend it!). Combine that with an analysis of your competitors’ reviews for the beginnings of a powerful SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analysis. But it’s a little tricky with competitors since you’re unlikely to have all their reviews in one spot.

What you can do, though, is copy 5-10 of their most recent customer (or employee) reviews and ask ChatGPT to analyze them for you.

Or, if you use Kompyte, export the reviews as a PDF report, then use something like ChatPDF to analyze them for you.

🤖 Try these questions:

  • Can you summarize the overall sentiment expressed in these reviews?
  • What features do users like?
  • What are the common themes in these reviews?
  • What are the most common complaints?
  • What do employees like about working at this company?

#4 Get a Daily AI Summary of All Your Competitors’ Moves

Saving the best for last, and with just the faintest rumble of a drumroll 🥁, introducing AI Daily Summaries!

Think back to when you first started your competitive intelligence journey. You may have been more than a little obsessed with tracking “ALL THE THINGS.” But, over time, you learned which insights are important, and which require little more than a quick glance.

Even when you have AI like Kompyte tracking and filtering just the way you like it and surfacing essential updates as alerts and in email digests, the sheer amount of information coming at you every day can be overwhelming. And that’s not even taking into account those days when you didn’t have time to review everything.

It can pile up fast!

Your daily AI summary delivers one brief update with all the day’s competitor activities right to your Collect Feed and Email Digests. See everything at a glance or filter by update type or competitor(s), making your review process quick and efficient. Share with a click, and train the AI with your preferences as you go.

Spot something worth looking into more deeply? Easily jump right to the full insight, then highlight it or share with anyone on your team in a flash!
